Kid, I know you’re new here,
So welcome to Hogwarts!
Don’t worry about your time here,
You’ve got your fellow Gryffindors!
Here in Gryffindor we like to see bravery,
Possibly some rash with a dash of daring,
Don’t worry if you aren’t any Harry Potter,
I mean, come on,
Just look at Neville and Weasely!
Over there you have Slytherin,
Kids like Malfoy and Parkinson,
Don’t let ‘em fool you,
Draco’s just a boy
Say’s he’s got ambition,
But all’s he wants to do is fit in,
Lucius and the deatheaters,
got him trying too hard to be a man
Moaning Myrtle’s his best friend,
When he’s crying by the sink,
Looks in the mirror
and doesn’t know who he is!
It’s the houses, really,
Standing for division,
Slytherins’ in the dungeon
as wands flare at the start
of the war at hogwarts
And no it’s not fair,
Voldemort’s got it in for him
Wand to his Father’s throat
Only to get to him!
Who is he to disregard it?
Slytherin was destiny
And Draco’s allegiance
just a tragedy!
When we think Slytherin
we think heroes versus villains,
Don’t you think it’s time
Slytherins were freed of this?
Ambition and Family,
Tradition and Cunning,
Intellect and First Impressions,
Do we have you running?
Power and Self-Preservation,
Cleverness and Determination,
Resourcefulness and Fraternity,
Are you even listening?!
Evil isn’t where we come from,
it isn’t some house banner,
it’s what we do with what we’ve learned,
once we’re pushed out on our own.
This is the real world,
Evil wizards are made,
Unsuspecting of society
we push them into further fatality
We tell them they can be what they wanna be,
But as the sorting hat comes down,
so does the pressure and from the way I see it,
a world with house unity would be better,
if you could just believe it.
Here in Slytherin
Sure, we have ambition,
but we also have families
and best friends
Next time think about what you’ll do
when you figure out there’s a Slytherin
sitting right next to you.
